David Duke, former KKK leader runs for US Senate
US: A former leader of the
white supremacist Ku Klux Klan, KKK, David Duke 66 is running for the US Senate, saying he demands respect
for "European Americans" while he believes in equal rights for all Americans.
Duke who was a former
legislator in Louisiana and a one time Republican candidate for
governor had served 15-month federal prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to charges of tax evasion and mail fraud in 2002.In a video posted on his website, Duke said;
"I believe in equal rights for all and respect for all Americans,"
"However, what makes me different is that I also respect and demand the respect for the rights and heritage of European Americans."Friday July 22 was the deadline for any Louisiana US Senate candidates to register.
Louisiana does not hold party primaries, alternatively all candidates from all parties are grouped on the same ballot.
If no one receives a simple majority, the top two candidates enter a runoff.
