Sport Paper Round: United's record £60m Pogba bid, PSG chase Coutinho
United have made a record-breaking bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, according to the Sun. United and Jose Mourinho
have sanctioned the £60 million bid, which would break the British
transfer record for a player. The report says the incoming Mourinho sees
Pogba as a critical building
block, four years after Pogba walked from Manchester United when contract negotiations imploded between Sir Alex Ferguson and his representation. The bid is broken down into a £48 million fee plus £12 in success and appearance based add-ons.
PSG target Philippe Coutinho
PSG have put Liverpool's
creative genius Philippe Coutinho on their summer wishlist, according
to the Daily Mail. The report says that Coutinho is happy at Liverpool
and wishes for the team to compete for Champions League football. He is
also signed at the Reds until 2020. Liverpool have sought to target
Mario Gotze and Sadio Mane to take the burden off the Brazilian
international, who appeared 44 times last season in all competitions.
PSG would have to move on a non-EU player to fit in Coutinho, as their
quota is currently full.
Catalan giants Barcelona have denied any bid for Arsenal's full
back Hector Bellerin, according to the Mirror. While Barcelona's
sporting director Robert Fernandez had claimed he knows nothing of any
bids for the exciting Gunners full back, he praised the 21 year old and
called him "fantastic". It comes as Dani Alves
confirmed his move to Juventus this week, leaving a gap a right back to
be filled by Barcelona in the transfer market. Bellerin was a product
of Barcelona's La Masia youth academy and is according to the report the
La Liga champions first choice replacement. Arsenal however are
standing firm on any deal, with it believed they are rebuffing any
advances.
Besiktas offer Liverpool £7 million for Martin Skrtel
Besiktas have thrown Liverpool a £7 million bid for defender
Martin Skrtel, according to the Daily Mail. The 31 year old Slovakian
international fell out of favour under Jurgen Klopp after injury
hampered his season, as the German manager seeks to give the squad a
facelift. It is believed that Klopp will have Skrtel down the pecking
order for the season coming, so the Turkish champions are making their
move and looking to bolster their defence.
