Six England fans jailed over Marseille violence

France: Six England fans has been handed prison sentences by a French court over their involvement in a violence in Marseille before a Euro 2016 match between England and Russia last weekend with all banned from France for two years.

The six men, who were at the court during a five hour session, were given prison sentence between one and three months. 
20 years old Alexander Booth, from Hudddersfield, Yorksire, was the youngest to be jailed receiving two month prison sentence. Booth was accused of throwing a bottle at the police.
Booth who spent his birthday in prison following his arrest for his part in the rioting, told the court:
 "I would like to say sorry to the police and to the people and city of Marseille. This is not like me.
"I'm not a violent person. I love my job and my family. I've never been involved in football hooliganism. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I am really, really sorry."
Booth, added that he had not aimed the bottle at officers and added:
 "I have never had problems with the police -- I respect the police very much. I am hard-working."
Alexander Booth, father, was seen crying outside the court and vowed to challenge the verdict.

Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said not a single 150 Russian hooligans were behind much of the violence, however, no Russians have been arrested.
