Nigeria recovers $14bn looted funds

Nigeria: The Nigerian Minister of information, Lai Mohammed, in a statement on Saturday, said Nigeria has seized more than $US10.3 billion stolen funds in the past year under President Muhammadu Buhari's anti-corruption fight.
The Minister said the government is also expecting the repatriation of $US330 million looted funds from the nation's treasury, concealed in banks abroad, especially in Switzerland.
The statement did not list the names of indicted officials, though President Buhari had promised to publish them.
He said the funds include $US583.5 million recovered in cash and $US9.7 billion in cash and assets under interim forfeiture including sea-going vessels, buildings and land.
"Hundreds of people have been arrested and the many ongoing trials include that of a former national security adviser accused of diverting $US2.1 billion meant to fight the Boko Haram Islamic insurgency."
