Man stabs teenage girl in France saying a voice told him to sacrifice for Ramadan

 

France: A 19 year old girl has been stabbed in the wrist and abdomen by a 32 year old man with known psychiatric problems in Rennes, France on Tuesday. See photo of the girl after the cut

Prosecutor Nicolas Jacquet confirmed the incident in which the victim sustained three stab wounds.
The man who stabbed the teenager told the police he heard voices ordering him to make a “sacrifice” for Ramadan.

“Voices told him that he had to make a sacrifice on the occasion of Ramadan,” the prosecutor said.

The attack is coming a day after a French police couple was killed by a jihadist in a small town near Paris, in a stabbing inspired by the ISIS group in Iraq and Syria.

The man was arrested and examined by a doctor and instantly sent to a psychiatric hospital. Jacquet confirmed that, the girl's injuries are not life-threatening.

The prosecutor said the man had previously been in and out of psychiatric hospitals a couple of times,  adding that he told investigators he was being treated for schizophrenia and was supposed to receive an injection today.

An investigation has been opened into attempted murder.
