Leopard escapes from its enclosure at Utah zoo

US: A 4 year old rare female leopard named Zeya at Salt Lake City zoo escaped its enclosure on Tuesday morning which lead to hundreds of zoo visitors scrambling for shelter inside nearby buildings.
According to Zoo spokeswoman, Erica Hansen, zoo visitors found the cat sleeping on a high outside shelf in a public space close to its exhibit about one hour later.
Hansen said no visitors were harmed. The leopard was tranquilised.
The leopard is safe, said Nancy Carpenter, associate director of animal health at the zoo.
The big cat fell about a metre after getting tranquilised, and landed in a padded garden area.
Hansen said they don't yet know how the leopard escaped.
The leopard was reported missing at 9.30am and was captured after an hour later, Hansen said.
There are two Amur leopards at the zoo. Hansen said it is rare for animals to get loose at the zoo.
She said there was an incident a few years back when a wolf got out of its enclosure on Mother's Day.
