Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid to win 11th Champions League title
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winning penalty from the spot
to make it 5-3 to secure Real Madrid's its second champions league
title in three years after the match had ended 1-1 in regulation time with neither side able to find
the net in extra time which saw a
Sergio Ramos' first-half goal cancelled out by Yannick Carrasco
in the 79th minute.
Real Madrid have now won the Champions League five times since it was re-branded in 1992-93. Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, who replaced Rafa Benitez in January, won on Europe's biggest stage just five months into his career as a Real Madrid manager.
The French icon becomes the seventh man to win the cup both as a player and as a manager.
