Is it a problem to dance? – Davido fires another shot at Okpebholo again

Afrobeats star Davido has taken another swipe at Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, refusing to let go of the governor’s repeated jabs at his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, over his love for dancing.

Davido spoke on Friday at the “VOTE, NOT FIGHT” campaign in Osogbo, where he urged Osun voters to reject violence and participate peacefully in the August 15 governorship election.

But alongside the peace message came another response to Okpebholo.

The Edo governor had previously mocked Adeleke for frequently dancing at public events, questioning whether Osun residents were tired of seeing their governor dance.

Davido turned the criticism around, suggesting that there was nothing wrong with Adeleke expressing himself through dance.

Addressing Okpebholo, the singer said:

“Mr Monday Okpebholo, you don see small money now, your voice no dey shake again abi? You’re talking about my governor that all he does is dance. Is there any problem in dancing? Na because you no get talent na. You can talk anyhow.”

Davido then shifted from the personal exchange to the election itself, calling on President Bola Tinubu to ensure that the August 15 contest is conducted fairly.

The singer also threw his weight behind Adeleke’s administration, arguing that the governor should be judged by what his government has delivered rather than by his dancing.

“I’m happy that the Osun people have stood with us and have stood firm. It’s not only because of Adeleke but because this government has been doing a good job. All the projects we promised, we’ve been delivering it.”

The singer’s appearance in Osogbo adds another layer to his increasingly visible involvement in his uncle’s re-election campaign.

Davido has repeatedly defended Adeleke against political attacks and has used his huge public platform to encourage voters to support the governor.

This time, however, he combined the political endorsement with a direct challenge to Okpebholo, making it clear that the dancing issue is unlikely to disappear from the campaign conversation anytime soon.
