God created SIDE CHICKS to help save marriages – Charles Inojie
Nollywood actor Charles Inojie has sparked debate over marriage and infidelity after suggesting that “side chicks” can, in some circumstances, help keep troubled marriages together.
The actor made the controversial remarks while appearing on the Beer Parlor Talk Show, where he was discussing the growing rate of divorce and what he believes has caused marriages to become increasingly unstable.
According to Inojie, modern couples have moved away from what he described as God’s original blueprint for marriage, contributing to the rise in marital breakdown.
“One of the reasons the rate of divorce is high is because we humans have left God’s original design for marriage,” he said.
‘God knows marriage would not be easy’
Inojie went further, arguing that marriage was never designed to be an easy institution and making an unusual case for extramarital relationships.
“For instance, God knows marriage would not be easy, that’s why He created side chicks so that when things are hard at home, the man can use the side chick to save the marriage,” he said.
He then doubled down on the claim, adding: “because side chick is very important in every marriage.”
The comment has opened another conversation around the often-contentious issue of infidelity, particularly in Nigerian society, where discussions about “side chicks”, marital expectations and divorce frequently generate strong reactions.
While Inojie's statement was framed as his personal view on how some men navigate difficulties in marriage, it also raises the question of whether an affair can actually preserve a relationship — or merely conceal deeper problems within it.
His remarks are likely to fuel debate among married couples and relationship commentators, particularly given the growing public discussion around changing attitudes towards marriage, fidelity and divorce.
