Woman shares harrowing postpartum memory loss experience, that made her forgot she had a baby
In a post shared on social media, she revealed that after giving birth, she was unable to recognize her own baby. According to her, she would call on anyone passing by to carry the infant into her room because she genuinely did not know whose child it was.
"I lost my memory for almost two months after delivery. I'd call anyone passing by to come and carry the baby in my room because I genuinely didn't know whose baby it was," she wrote.
She also praised her husband's calm and compassionate response during the difficult period. Rather than confronting or confusing her, he would gently encourage her to feed the baby by saying, "Please breastfeed the baby before the mother comes."The touching account has resonated with thousands online, with many applauding her husband for his empathy and using the story to raise awareness about postpartum mental health conditions. Medical experts note that while temporary forgetfulness can occur after childbirth, severe memory loss or confusion is uncommon and may signal a serious postpartum medical or psychiatric condition requiring immediate medical evaluation.
The story has reignited conversations about the importance of supporting new mothers, recognizing the warning signs of postpartum complications, and ensuring women receive timely medical and emotional care after childbirth.
