Betting won’t make you rich, Oyedepo tells youths

Nigeria: Founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has cautioned Nigerian youths against seeing sports betting as a pathway to financial success, warning that the pursuit of quick money could derail their future.

Delivering the message during a church service, the cleric urged young people to reject the growing culture of betting and instead embrace diligence, discipline and purposeful living as the foundation for lasting prosperity.

According to Oyedepo, staking money on betting platforms offers no dependable route to wealth. Rather than chasing uncertain rewards, he encouraged youths to invest their time and energy in productive ventures capable of delivering sustainable success.

Throughout his sermon, the bishop described sports betting as a distraction that can rob young people of their potential, stressing that genuine progress is built through patience, consistency and honest effort—not the promise of overnight riches.

He reminded worshippers that meaningful achievements often take time but produce enduring rewards, urging them to remain committed to legitimate pursuits instead of seeking shortcuts to financial breakthrough.

Concluding his message, Oyedepo challenged young Nigerians to rethink their priorities and make decisions that would secure their future rather than placing their hopes on games of chance.

“Young people, 9jabet is not the way to financial fortune. Stop wasting your destiny. Stop wasting your destiny. Stop wasting your destiny,” he declared.
