Police arrest Umuahia barber over alleged ritual use of customers’ hair
Police in Abia State have arrested a barber in Umuahia after officers allegedly recovered a clay pot containing shaved human hair and other suspected ritual items during a search of his residence.

The suspect, identified only as Emeka, was taken into custody after his neighbour, Mr. Johnson Ikenga, reportedly lodged a complaint at the Central Police Station, alleging that the barber had been threatening him.

Acting on the report, officers visited the suspect's one-room apartment to effect the arrest. During a search of the premises, police reportedly discovered a clay pot filled with human hair, alongside other objects believed to be fetish-related.

According to eyewitness accounts, Emeka acknowledged ownership of the clay pot when questioned by officers. However, he was unable to explain the purpose of the items or provide a satisfactory account of how the human hair came into his possession.

The discovery prompted police to take the suspect into custody for further interrogation.

Authorities have not announced any formal charges, and investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the recovered items to determine whether any criminal offence has been committed.

Police are expected to provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
