Al-Mustapha rejects claims Abacha died on top of a woman, vows to respond with facts
Addressing journalists in Kaduna, Al-Mustapha dismissed assertions contained in Amachree’s recently published book, describing them as fabricated and alleging that the former intelligence officer did not act independently in writing the account.
“The boy was asked to write the lies by others. I have all the CCTV footages of what happened in my custody, so what he said are not true,” Al-Mustapha said.
He maintained that the narrative presented in the publication does not reflect what transpired, insisting he possesses evidence that contradicts the claims made about the late military leader’s final moments.
Al-Mustapha also appealed to Nigerians to disregard the allegations, arguing that it is unjust to make accusations against a deceased individual who cannot respond to defend himself.
“Just ignore his lies. It’s bad to say such things on someone that is dead,” he said.
The retired military officer further suggested that Amachree was advancing the interests of unnamed individuals, adding that he would address the allegations comprehensively when the time is right.
“But I want to assure you that the author of the book is acting out a script. He is not acting alone. At the appropriate time, I will respond to these lies. You don’t tell your enemies your plans,” he added.
Amachree’s claims have sparked renewed public discussion about the circumstances surrounding General Abacha’s death, with Al-Mustapha’s latest remarks marking a firm rejection of the account presented in the former DSS operative’s book.
