Video captures terror inside Brown University library during shooting

Moments of intense fear unfolded at Brown University following the shooting incident that occurred in the institution’s wider area, as captured in a video released to the public.

The footage clearly shows students taking refuge in a university library, seeking cover while loud sounds of gunfire are heard. The students appear to remain hidden and in a state of panic, following safety instructions.

A short time later, police officers enter the area and proceed with the organised evacuation of the students, only after ensuring there is no immediate threat.

The video shows more than a dozen terrified and tearful students, huddled on the floor in front of bookshelves, while at least seven loud bangs are clearly audible. The incident occurred on Saturday, during a mass shooting attack that resulted in two people losing their lives and eight being seriously injured.

Multiple Loud Noises Heard as Students Hide

It has not been clarified exactly what caused the specific noises heard in the video. Shortly after the last loud bang, however, dozens of police officers, dressed in SWAT gear and holding weapons, stormed the library, ordering students to put their hands up.

The mass armed attack left two dead and eight seriously injured.

“It is obvious that something serious is happening; we are here to help you… Just listen to our orders, and we will get you out of here, one of the police officers is heard saying in the video.

Police asked the students to quickly retrieve their personal belongings before being escorted out of the building for safety reasons. In the final shots, the students are seen frantically running to grab their bags just before the recording ends.

Authorities’ investigations into the circumstances and exact causes of the attack are ongoing.
