Police shoot suspect after ‘serious’ Christmas Day attack in Boden, Sweden

Swedish police are investigating a major violent crime in the northern town of Boden after several people were rushed to the hospital following an attack on Christmas Day.

Officers at the scene shot and “neutralised” the unidentified suspect, who is currently in custody.

The incident has shaken the town of Boden, located just south of the Arctic Circle and known for hosting the 19th Infantry Regiment. Police have cordoned off the area and launched a large-scale forensic investigation.

“Serious Case” under investigation

Police spokesperson Åsa Mjörndal confirmed that authorities are taking “several investigative measures” but declined to provide further specifics on the nature of the attack or the exact number of victims.

The Scene: A quiet residential neighbourhood dominated by single-family homes.

Community Impact: While the case is described as “serious,” police have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the wider community.

Witness Accounts: Residents reported seeing a massive influx of ambulances and patrol cars. One neighbour told the newspaper Aftonbladet that they heard shouting early in the morning before their dog became frightened and “silence followed.”

Authorities remain on-site as they attempt to establish a motive for the holiday attack.
