I feel safe in Nigeria – Former UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has expressed that he feels completely safe in Nigeria, dismissing earlier negative reports about security in the country.
Johnson made the remarks during the Imo State Economic Summit 2025 in Owerri on Thursday.
“I want you to know that when I decided to come to Owerri, I read some things, and there were people saying, ‘There may be some security problems in Nigeria.’ Have you heard that? And I said, ‘Well, I am going to go anyway,’” he said.
He continued: “And let me ask you: do you feel safe here today in this conference? Yes, we all feel safe. And I feel perfectly safe. Thank you, Governor, for what you are doing.”
The former Prime Minister also commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his initiative to provide 24-hour electricity to residents, highlighting it as a key step toward economic transformation in Imo State.
Johnson further noted that artificial intelligence would play a crucial role in achieving the governor’s vision, describing AI as a pivotal tool for the future.
