Four dead and over twenty injured in early Sunday bar shooting in St. Helena, South Carolina
At least four people were killed and more than twenty were injured when a gunman opened fire early on Sunday morning at a bar on St. Helena Island, South Carolina, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred at Willie’s Bar and Grill, a popular local venue which was crowded at the time. When officers from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene, they found several people bleeding from gunshot wounds.
“Numerous victims and witnesses fled to adjacent businesses and residences to seek shelter from the gunfire,” the Sheriff’s Office stated in an announcement on the X platform. Authorities described the incident as “tragic and difficult for everyone” and asked for patience as the investigation is ongoing.
Four people were found dead at the bar, while more than twenty were injured. Of those, four are in critical condition in local hospitals.
Authorities have not yet announced the details of the victims, and investigations are continuing to locate the perpetrator or perpetrators, as well as the motives for the attack.
