Worker accused of breaking colleague’s cheekbone in a fight arrested 3 months later
A factory worker, has been released on bail after allegedly assaulting a colleague in Haspolat, causing a collapsed fracture in the victim’s left cheekbone.
The suspect identified as SN, a Pakistan national appeared before the Lefkoşa District Court on Thursday Sep. 18 on charges of “serious assault” and “grievous bodily harm.”
Presenting the case, the police testified that on June 18, 2025, at around 10:00 a.m., the suspect punched co-worker M.K. in the face during a dispute over work assistance, resulting in the injury.
The incident was reported to police on July 2, 2025. However, SN could not be located as he had been dismissed from his job and his address was unknown. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On September 17, 2025, the suspect was identified and detained at the Lefkoşa Police Immigration Department during routine entry-exit checks.
Police confirmed that the investigation had been completed and noted that SN was residing in the country with a valid work permit. They requested bail conditions.
The judge granted release under strict terms, ordering a travel ban, a 20,000 TL cash deposit, one guarantor to sign a 700,000 TL surety bond, and a requirement for the suspect to report to police once a week.
The case will proceed under these bail conditions.
