A 53-year-old woman, is facing legal action after allegedly giving false testimony to the police in an attempt to discredit the volunteer traffic inspector initiative in İskele.
According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the woman identified as S.F. reported to the İskele Police Directorate on September 15, claiming that while driving, she was stopped by an unknown individual who introduced himself as a volunteer traffic inspector. She alleged that the person recorded her speeding on video and demanded 1,000 TL in exchange for not submitting the footage to the police.
However, police investigations later revealed that no such incident had taken place. Authorities concluded that S.F. fabricated the story deliberately to protest the volunteer traffic monitoring scheme. By knowingly making a false statement, she was found to have committed the offense of “public mischief” (amme fesatçılığı).
Police confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against S.F. and that the investigation is ongoing.
