Woman arrested in Girne for assaulting police officer in north Cyprus

A 56-year-old woman, was arrested in Girne after allegedly shouting at police officers and assaulting one of them during a dispute over improper parking.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the incident occurred at around 11:15 a.m. yesterday inside a residential complex. 

Police officers had approached the suspect identified as V.Ç. to warn her about parking her vehicle incorrectly. The suspect reportedly responded by shouting loudly, causing a public disturbance.

Authorities said that V.Ç. then struck a police officer on the scene, interfering with the officer’s ability to carry out official duties.

The suspect was taken into custody, and police confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
