Uninsured driver causes major traffic collision in north Cyprus, causing pver 200,000 TL worth of damage
Lefkoşa – A serious traffic incident in Lefkoşa has drawn public attention after an uninsured driver caused a chain collision, resulting in substantial financial damages.
According to court reports, the driver of the vehicle identified as MAA, a Sudanese national was accused of operating a vehicle without valid insurance and causing a multi-vehicle accident in the capital.
The crash led to property damage estimated at ₺230,000, sparking legal proceedings against the driver.
The court, emphasizing both the seriousness of the offense and the significant financial loss incurred, ordered MAA to be released on bail set at ₺250,000. In addition to the bail conditions, the defendant must comply with strict legal obligations until further hearings are scheduled.
Traffic authorities have reiterated the risks posed by uninsured vehicles on the road, underlining that such incidents not only endanger public safety but also create severe financial burdens for those affected.
The case will continue as investigations proceed, with further hearings expected in the coming weeks.
