Three suspects remanded in northern Cyprus drug raid

Lefkoşa – September 3, 2025 - Turkish Cypriot police have arrested three men in connection with a drug bust carried out in Minareliköy, Lefkoşa, following a tip-off. 

The suspects identified as, UK, CCİ, and MCS, all Turkish nationals were brought before the Lefkoşa District Court on Thursday Sept. 4.

According to testimony presented by the police court, on September 3, 2025, officers from the Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Directorate conducted a search of a residence under court order in the presence of suspects UK and CCİ. During the search, police seized approximately 13 grams of narcotics, 1 gram of a tobacco-drug mixture, and a white porcelain plate with blue-grey motifs that bore traces of drug residue.

The police stated that the two suspects were caught in the act, and subsequent investigations led to the arrest of a third suspect, MCS, who was located in Girne.

Police confirmed that the seized substances will be sent for laboratory analysis and that statements collected during the investigation will be verified.

After reviewing the evidence, the judge ordered all three suspects to remain in police custody for 24 hours pending further inquiries.
