Nationwide water supply to be interrupted between 9–12 September due to repair works at Geçitköy pumping station

The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources has announced that water distribution from Geçitköy will be suspended between 9–12 September to allow for essential repair works at the Geçitköy Pumping Station.

According to the ministry, a major power outage on 8 August, which affected the entire country, caused 13 separate faults in the Water Supply Project. While 12 of these issues were repaired without service interruption, officials confirmed that resolving the final fault will require a temporary halt in water supply.

As a result, no water will be distributed from Geçitköy across the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) during the repair period. Authorities stated that until the maintenance and repair works are completed, local resources will be used to meet water needs.

The ministry has urged the public to use water consciously and sparingly throughout this period to minimize difficulties caused by the interruption.
