Man confesses to murdering his parents on live TV in New York

A shocking incident has occurred in New York where a 53-year-old man confessed in a live television interview that he had murdered his parents and buried their bodies in the yard of their family home in Albany.

Minutes after the broadcast, authorities arrested him and charged him with double homicide.

According to the Guardian, Lawrence Krause, speaking to the local channel WRGB, revealed that he had buried his parents on the property of their house, about eight years after they were last seen alive. When asked if he drowned them, he answered in the affirmative, explaining that he strangled his father with his hands and drowned his mother with a rope.

The 53-year-old claimed he killed them out of “pity” because, as he said, they were suffering from health problems and were “nearing the end.” He stated: “I did my duty to my parents. I was worried they would become unhappy.”

Police had already placed Krause under surveillance after a complaint from the Social Security Administration in May when it was found that his elderly parents, aged 92 and 83, were still receiving benefits, while there was no trace of them. On Wednesday, investigators located one body in the yard of the house, and on Thursday, a second one, believed to belong to Franz and Theresa Krause.

Krause was taken to court, where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of homicide and concealment of bodies. District Attorney Lee Kindlon called the television confession crucial for the prosecution, but he also stressed that physical evidence and witness statements are also required.
