Man arrested for sexual assault of a woman in Güzelyurt

A man accused of sexual assault at the Binatlı Yılmaz Sports Club tea house in Güzelyurt has been released on bail following a court hearing.

The suspect, identified as S.G., a Turkish Cypriot was arrested on September 1 after a complaint was filed against him. 

According to police testimony presented by the police in court, the incident took place on August 29, when S.G. allegedly assaulted tea house employee S.A. without her consent.

Police confirmed that the suspect is unemployed, a TRNC citizen, and has no prior criminal record. The investigation into the case has now been completed.

After reviewing the evidence, the judge ordered S.G.’s release under strict bail conditions which include paying a cash deposit of ₺10,000, bring a TRNC citizen guarantor to sign a ₺200,000 surety bond, banned from leaving the country, and report to the nearest police station every two weeks.

The case will proceed under judicial supervision as authorities continue legal proceedings.
