Hidden cocaine and cannabis cache discovered in Cyprus woodland

Authorities in south Cyprus have arrested a 30-year-old man in Famagusta province in connection with illegal drug possession, according to police reports.

Members of the Anti-Narcotics Unit (YKAN) placed a forested area in Famagusta province under surveillance yesterday after discovering a package containing cannabis and cocaine hidden beneath wild vegetation.

Surveillance operation leads to arrest

Around 10pm, officers observed a man approaching the area and collecting the package. He was immediately stopped by YKAN members, who confirmed the individual was a 30-year-old suspect.

During the search, officers discovered and confiscated a small bag containing cannabis, two packages containing cocaine, precision scales, a grinding mill, a mobile phone, and €1,670 in cash.

Total seizure confirmed

In total, authorities discovered and confiscated 108 grams of cannabis (gross weight) and 52 grams of cocaine (gross weight).

The 30-year-old was arrested for a flagrant offence and detained to facilitate investigations.

YKAN continues to investigate the case.
