EMÜ student dies four days after suicide attempt in north Cyprus

The North Cyprus Police Press Office has confirmed that 20-year-old Keziban Mine Canseven, a Turkish student of Eastern Mediterranean University’s Nursing Department, passed away on September 27 following a suicide attempt in Gazimağusa.

According to the statement, Canseven attempted to end her life on September 24, 2025, and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of Near East University Hospital, where she remained under treatment for four days. Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries on September 27.

Police reported that the young student had fallen from the balcony of her residence in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Her funeral will be held in her hometown of Karapınar, Konya, where she will be laid to rest.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
