Drunk individual assaults civilian and police officer in north Cyprus

A 21-year-old woman was arrested in Gönyeli after beating a man, disturbing the peace, and later assaulting a police officer who attempted to administer a breathalyzer test.

The incident occurred on Thursday September 18, 2025, at around 05:00 on Atatürk Street. 

According to police, the woman identified only as F.K., who was under the influence of alcohol, pushed T.Ş. (22) in the chest and swore at him after demanding that he leave her residence. She also shouted loudly, disturbing the surrounding area without reasonable cause.

When police officers intervened and requested a breathalyzer test, F.K. refused to comply, cursed at the officers, and physically assaulted a female officer by pulling her hair. The officer was forced out of duty as a result of the attack.

Police confirmed that F.K. was caught in the act and placed under arrest. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
