Construction site collapse in north Cyprus: Workers rescued

A building under construction next to Mağusa Medical Center partially collapsed at midday during a concrete slab pouring operation.

Following the incident, Civil Defense teams and medical personnel were dispatched to the site. In a statement, the Civil Defense Organization confirmed:

“At around 14:00 today, a collapse occurred at a construction site in Gazimağusa during concrete pouring. Civil Defense search-and-rescue units and fire brigades were immediately deployed to the area and launched rescue operations. Following reconnaissance work, trapped workers were successfully rescued. Search-and-rescue operations are still ongoing.”

Authorities have not yet disclosed how many workers were affected or whether there were any injuries.

The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
