Three arrested in North Cyprus for forging and circulating fake documents

Lefkosia – Police in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) have arrested three individuals in two separate incidents involving the forgery and circulation of fraudulent documents, according to the Police Press Office.

At Ercan Airport, two individuals — identified as R.A.U. (64, male) and A.A. (16, male) — were detained after presenting falsified residence permit documents bearing their own names to immigration officers during entry procedures. The forged documents were detected, and both suspects were immediately taken into custody.

In a separate case in İskele, O.J. (36, male) allegedly falsified multiple bank payment receipts to delay repayment of debts. Between August 4 and 6, the suspect is accused of forging two receipts totaling £1,700 sterling and sending them via WhatsApp to a creditor. Police say that on June 13, O.J. also forged a €2,200 payment receipt to delay paying his rent, which he then sent to his landlord via the same messaging platform. Following a police investigation, the suspect was located and arrested.

Police say investigations into all incidents are ongoing.
