Over 800,000 drug pills seized in Istanbul operation
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that security forces seized 847,600 narcotic pills and 290 kilograms of raw material in operations targeting drug production and trafficking in Istanbul, leading to the arrest of two suspects.
In a statement shared on his official NSosyal account, Yerlikaya said the operations were carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command following intelligence work. Raids took place in the Zeytinburnu and Sarıyer districts of Istanbul, targeting illegal drug manufacturers.
Yerlikaya commended the coordinated efforts of the Istanbul Governor’s Office, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Gendarmerie Anti-Narcotics Department, and the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command, stressing that the fight against drugs remains a top national priority.
