Man injures flatmate in assault in north Cyprus

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Gazimağusa after seriously injuring his flatmate during a violent altercation early Monday morning.

According to information from the Police Press Office, the incident occurred at around 03:00 on 25 August 2025 at a shared residence in Gazimağusa. During an argument, the suspect, identified as M.A.Y., allegedly punched his 19-year-old flatmate M.P. in the face after claiming that the victim had insulted him.

The blow fractured the victim’s eye socket, leaving him with a serious facial injury.

Police confirmed that M.A.Y. was arrested shortly after the assault. An investigation into the case is ongoing.
