Filipino national held for staying in north Cyprus illegally for over 100 days

A Filipino national, has been arrested in Lefkoşa after being found to have overstayed in the country illegally for nearly three years.

The woman identified only as CC was brought to court Tuesday August 19.

Police testified in court that CC was stopped for an immigration check on August 18, 2025, after arousing suspicion. Records showed that the suspect had been residing in the country without a valid permit since October 31, 2022, amounting to 1,019 days of unauthorized stay.

She was arrested on the spot, and police have launched an investigation to determine whether he was involved in any criminal activity during his time in the country. 

Authorities also confirmed that deportation procedures are being initiated.

The police requested additional time to complete their inquiries, and the judge ordered that the suspect remain in custody for three days.
