Fatal crash in Boğazköy claims life of 22-year-old driver, three injured

Boğazköy, Cyprus (August 3, 2025) — A tragic traffic accident occurred early Sunday morning in Boğazköy, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Adil Muti Havare, the driver of the vehicle. 

Three passengers were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the accident took place at approximately 5:30 AM on Atatürk Street. Havare was driving a KE 288 license plate sedan northbound when he lost control of the vehicle while navigating a left-hand bend. The car veered off the road, crashing into a residential garden wall and a cypress tree.

Adil Muti Havare sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three passengers — Elif Eda Kırğıl (18), Büşra Kırğıl (22), and Sabri Kenan Kahiloğulları (21) — were transported to Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital for medical attention.

Elif Eda Kırğıl suffered fractures to her pelvis and spine and was admitted for observation.

Büşra Kırğıl was held under observation in the emergency room for general assessment.

Sabri Kenan Kahiloğulları sustained fractures to his right wrist, ribs, and shoulder, and was also diagnosed with lung hemorrhaging. He is currently under observation in the General Surgery Intensive Care Unit.

Police confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. The incident has reignited concerns over road safety, particularly among young drivers on rural and suburban routes.
