Cyprus is currently under the impact of an extreme heatwave, with temperatures soaring 4 to 7 degrees above seasonal norms, accompanied by dusty weather.
Authorities in north Cyprus have extended the midday outdoor work ban until 15 August due to the ongoing conditions.
According to the latest meteorological assessments, inland areas are expected to experience maximum temperatures of 41–44°C, while coastal regions will see 36–39°C.
The Meteorological Department has warned of potential health risks such as heatstroke, as well as increased risk of wildfires, urging citizens and officials to take necessary precautions.
People are advised to avoid unprotected exposure to the sun between 12:00 and 16:00.
The department also reported that dust particles carried from the Middle East are expected to cause air pollution until 13 August.
Individuals sensitive to dust have been advised to take extra measures.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security announced that the ban on outdoor work during the hottest hours of the day—12:00 to 16:00—will remain in effect until 15 August.
Citizens can report violations by providing the full address and photos via the ALO 102 Hotline or its WhatsApp line at 0539 109 5050.
