Drunk driver charged after attempting to bribe police in Cyprus
A 35-year-old man attempted to bribe police officers with cash after being stopped for suspected drunk driving, Greek Cypriot authorities reported on Monday.
The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday near Ayia Napa, when officers pulled the man over and noticed a strong smell of alcohol on him.
Police said the man refused to comply with their instructions and became aggressive, pushing and attempting to flee from the officers.
He was subsequently arrested, and during the arrest, allegedly tried to offer the officers money in an effort to secure his release.
At the station, a breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. He was later charged in writing and released.
