Driver fined for dragging a dog with a tractor in north Cyprus

A tractor driver who was caught on camera dragging a dog tied to his vehicle along the Erenköy–Yeşilköy main road in north Cyprus has been identified and fined by police. According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the incident, which took place on the North Coastal Road between Erenköy and Yeşilköy, came to light after disturbing footage surfaced on social media. The images showed the driver pulling the dog with his tractor, sparking widespread outrage. Officers from the Ziyamet Police Station, under the İskele Police Directorate, quickly launched an investigation and identified the suspect. The driver was issued a fixed penalty fine of 7,680.30 TL for the offenses committed. Authorities further confirmed that the Veterinary Department was notified due to the animal cruelty involved, and additional action may be taken. The police emphasized that the investigation into the case remains ongoing.
