30-year-old Cameroon nationals dies while swimming on a beach in Cyprus

A day with friends ended in tragedy on Friday evening when a 30-year-old Cameroonian man drowned off the coast of Lemba, Paphos in south Cyprus.

According to police, the man had gone for a swim alone at around 7:30pm while spending time on the beach with fellow Cameroonians. Shortly after entering the sea, he lost consciousness. His friends noticed him floating, pulled him ashore, and immediately called for help.

Emergency services rushed him to Paphos General Hospital, but despite efforts to resuscitate him, the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.

The exact cause of death will be determined through an autopsy, while the local CID continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
