28 grams of cannabis and cash seized in police operation in Hamitköy

Police in Lefkoşa have arrested a 28-year-old man after seizing drugs and cash believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales during an operation in Hamitköy.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the incident occurred at around 21:00 on 25 August 2025. Officers from the Crime Prevention Unit of the Lefkoşa Police Department stopped S.T. (28) on suspicion and later searched both his person and residence.

During the search, police discovered 28 grams of cannabis along with 16,484 TL and £70 Sterling in cash, which are believed to have been obtained through drug trafficking. The items were confiscated as evidence.

The suspect was taken into custody, and police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
