Worker arrested for stabbing employer in dispute over advance payment in Alayköy
A dispute over an advance payment turned violent at a business in the Alayköy Industrial Zone, resulting in an employer being stabbed and the suspect arrested, authorities announced.
According to police testimony presented in Lefkoşa District Court on Tuesday Juky 1, the incident occurred on June 30, 2025, at around 9:00 p.m., when a disagreement between Bülent Gülbahar, 29, and his employer, C.M., 38, escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, Gülbahar allegedly stabbed C.M. in the left knee with a knife he unlawfully possessed.
The police stated that C.M. received treatment at the emergency department of Lefkoşa State Hospital and was discharged the same day, as his injuries were not life-threatening.
Following the incident, police obtained an arrest warrant, and Gülbahar was apprehended in Alayköy Industrial Zone. Investigators confirmed that the suspect gave a voluntary statement admitting to the attack. Both the suspect and the victim were examined by a doctor, and medical reports documenting injuries were secured. Blood samples were also taken from both parties for forensic analysis.
Police reported recovering the knife allegedly used in the assault, as well as the clothing worn by the suspect at the time of the incident. These items were collected as evidence during a search conducted on July 1, 2025.
The police emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages, with several witness statements yet to be collected and surveillance footage requiring review. Police requested a three-day extension of the suspect’s detention to complete the inquiry.
After considering the evidence, the judge ordered Gülbahar to remain in custody for an additional three days pending further investigation.
