Woman arrested in Kyrenia for real estate fraud

Kyrenia, July 8, 2025 — A 36-year-old woman has been arrested in Kyrenia on charges of fraud after allegedly impersonating a real estate agent and deceiving two individuals with false promises of rental properties.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the suspect, identified by the initials G.Ç., is accused of presenting herself as a real estate agent between May and June 2025, despite having no official authorization or license to operate in the sector.

During this period, she allegedly misled two separate individuals into believing she could rent homes to them, and in doing so, fraudulently obtained a total of £1,000 and ₺270,820.

Police launched an investigation after becoming aware of the complaints, ultimately identifying and arresting the suspect. Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

The police have advised the public to exercise caution when entering into rental agreements and to ensure individuals offering such services are properly licensed.
