Vehicle overturns in Güzelyurt-Lefkoşa road — No injuries reported

Güzelyurt, July 8, 2025 — A young driver miraculously escaped injury after his vehicle overturned in a traffic accident that occurred this morning on the Güzelyurt-Lefkoşa main road.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the incident took place at around 9:30 AM when 19-year-old Mehmet Efe Özçömert lost control of the vehicle he was driving while heading in the direction of Lefkoşa.

As the vehicle approached the Türkeli Junction, the driver reportedly lost steering control, causing the car to veer off the left side of the road and collide with steel roadside barriers. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn, eventually coming to a stop on its roof in the middle of the road.

Remarkably, the driver emerged from the wreckage uninjured and remained standing at the scene.

Police confirmed that an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
