Two women to face trial over theft of cosmetics worth ₺17,198 from supermarket in Demirhan
Demirhan, Cyprus – July 7, 2025 - Two women accused of stealing cosmetic products valued at ₺17,198.83 from a supermarket in Demirhan have been released on bail pending trial.
The suspects, NS, 46 and SO, 38 appeared before the court where police presented the findings of their investigation.
According to Police Constable, the incident occurred on July 3, 2025, around 2:00 p.m. The suspects, acting as regular customers, allegedly took various branded cosmetic items from the store's beauty section and exited the premises without paying.
The theft was reported to authorities on July 6. Subsequent review of security camera footage led to the identification of the suspects. Both women were summoned to the Demirhan Police Station, where they returned most of the stolen items and reportedly confessed to the offense during questioning.
A search of their residences was conducted as part of the investigation. At the home of suspect SO, one additional cosmetic item—a cream—was found and seized as evidence.
Police confirmed that both suspects are legally residing in the country and requested bail conditions to ensure their presence during future legal proceedings.
After reviewing the testimony, the judge ordered the following bail conditions: a travel ban for both suspects, mandatory weekly check-ins with the police, and a cash bail of ₺80,000 each.
The investigation has been completed, and the suspects will now await further proceedings under supervised release.
