Two men remanded after drug bust in Lefkoşa, narcotics and cash found

Lefkoşa, July 19, 2025 — Two suspects have been remanded in custody for three days by a Lefkoşa court following a major drug operation by the Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Directorate.

According to police testimony, the operation took place on Saturday, July 19, at approximately 6:30 PM, when officers stopped a suspicious rental vehicle driven by one of the suspects identified as MMAZE on Mustafa Ruso Street in Lefkoşa.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of nine individual packets containing a total of 8 grams of a substance believed to be illegal narcotics, suspected to be packaged for sale.

The police later searched the suspect’s two residences. While no illegal items were found at his home in Girne, the search of his Lefkoşa residence uncovered: 20 grams of cannabis (believed to be skunk), 5 tablets suspected to contain narcotics, 20 milligrams of white powder believed to be a drug, a digital scale believed to contain drug residue, cash totaling 15,500 TL and 220 GBP, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Police stated that MMAZE admitted during questioning that he had purchased 50 grams of narcotics from the second suspect YN and had sold part of it under YN’s instructions. YN was later located and arrested in İskele.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are currently reviewing security footage, collecting additional statements, and analyzing the seized substances. Police also noted that other suspects are being sought in connection with the case.

After reviewing the evidence, the judge ordered that both suspects remain in custody for an additional three days to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
