Passenger causes car crash in Girne by grabbing sterring with driver

A passenger has been arrested in Girne after interfering with a moving vehicle's steering wheel, causing it to crash into an electricity pole. 

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the incident occurred at around 2:30 PM on July 8, 2025, on Ecevit Street in Girne. A salon car driven by 53-year-old K.D. veered out of control following a dispute with 26-year-old passenger Z.U., who was seated in the front passenger seat.

Police reported that during the argument, Z.U. deliberately pulled the steering wheel to the left while the vehicle was in motion, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a roadside utility pole. The vehicle sustained damage in the incident.

Z.U. was subsequently arrested. Police confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Disruptive Hotel Guest Arrested for Drunken Behavior in Girne.

In a separate incident, a hotel guest in Girne was arrested in the early hours of July 9, 2025, for causing a disturbance while under the influence of alcohol.

According to the Police Press Office, 24-year-old M.D. was found in the lobby of a hotel in Girne at approximately 12:05 AM, shouting loudly and disturbing other guests without a valid reason. A breathalyzer test revealed M.D. had 209 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood.

The individual was arrested at the scene. Police stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
