First mobile immigration inspection carried out in Lefke’s Gaziveren region of northern Cyprus
Lefke, July 31, 2025 — Northern Cyprus Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz on Thursday participated in the country’s first mobile immigration inspection conducted with newly assigned vehicles provided by the Migration Management Center.
The operation took place in the Gaziveren area of Lefke, focusing primarily on construction sites, with the goal of curbing irregular and unauthorized residency.
The early-morning operation marked the launch of a new mobile inspection system aimed at identifying undocumented individuals and preventing illegal residence throughout the country.
Minister Oğuz was accompanied during the inspection by Lefke District Governor Savaş Orakçıoğlu, Deputy Police Chief of Güzelyurt Ediz Aytan, Acting Police Immigration Director Salih Seven, and senior officials from the Migration Management Center.
During the field visit, Minister Oğuz received a detailed briefing on the operational framework of the new system and conveyed his appreciation to the teams conducting inspections on-site.“More Effective and Rapid Immigration Control”
Speaking after the inspection, Minister Oğuz emphasized the importance of the new mobile enforcement mechanism in enhancing immigration governance across the TRNC.
“With this system, we aim to manage both regular and irregular migration more effectively and swiftly,” he said. “These inspections will continue at regular intervals across various districts to ensure compliance with legal residency and employment standards.”
Authorities say the mobile inspection vehicles will serve all districts and are part of a broader initiative to strengthen immigration oversight and maintain public order through proactive field operations.
