Driver and accomplice fined over ₺173,000 for illegal taxi operation in Gönyeli

Gönyeli, Nicosia – July 7, 2025 - A driver caught operating an illegal taxi service in Gönyeli, along with the individual who enabled the activity, have been fined a total of ₺173,876 and handed 100 penalty points.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, officers from the Gönyeli Police Station, under the Nicosia Police Directorate, identified a vehicle driver engaged in unauthorized passenger transport for payment. The driver was issued a fine of ₺86,938 and 50 penalty points.

Similarly, the person who allowed or facilitated the illegal taxi service was also fined ₺86,938 and given 50 penalty points.

Police emphasized that inspections to combat illegal transportation activities will continue without interruption. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
