Israel used long-planned subterfuge in attack on Iranian nuclear targets, Trump warns of “more brutal attacks” if Iran doesn’t sign nuclear deal

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Iran now has a “second chance” to reach a nuclear agreement, following Israeli airstrikes on Tehran and the expiration of a previously unpublicized 60-day deadline for negotiations.

Posting on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump disclosed that he had given Iran a 60-day window to engage in talks for a new nuclear deal. That period concluded the same day as his announcement, with Trump stating that Iran failed to meet the terms.

“Two months ago, I gave Iran a 60-day ultimatum to reach a deal. They should’ve acted! Today is day 61. I told them what was needed, but they couldn’t make it happen. Maybe now they’ll get a second chance!” Trump wrote.

In a more detailed follow-up, Trump outlined his prior diplomatic efforts and issued stern warnings of further consequences should Iran refuse to return to the negotiating table. He stressed that multiple opportunities had already been given, each with stronger pressure to compel compliance.

Highlighting American military strength, Trump noted that the U.S. manufactures “the best and most lethal military equipment in the world,” and emphasized that Israel possesses a significant portion of it, with more on the way.

He also alluded to the deaths of senior Iranian figures, whom he labeled “hardliners,” saying they had “spoken bravely” but were unprepared for recent developments. Trump warned that future operations could be “even more brutal” than past military actions.

Framing the moment as a chance to avoid further loss of life, he added: “There’s already been immense death and destruction. But there’s still time to stop this bloodshed—because the next planned attacks will be even harsher.”

Trump concluded with a final appeal: “Iran must make a deal before it’s too late—before there’s nothing left to save of what was once called the Iranian Empire. No more death. No more destruction. JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. God Bless You All!”

Israel deployed Mossad commandos inside Iran ahead of major strike on nuclear targets

Israel covertly sent Mossad commandos deep into Iranian territory to sabotage weapons systems in preparation for a broad assault on Iran's nuclear and military infrastructure, according to an Israeli security source. A separate official added that Israel deliberately misled both media and Iran to conceal the timing of the operation.

Speaking anonymously due to the secretive nature of the mission, the officials revealed that the attack followed extensive and long-term planning. Oil markets reacted sharply, with prices spiking on fears of a broader regional conflict.

In the days leading up to the operation, Iranian officials dismissed reports of an impending Israeli strike, suggesting they were merely psychological tactics meant to influence upcoming U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations scheduled for Sunday. Israeli officials fed this narrative, briefing journalists that Mossad's chief would travel to Washington to support diplomatic efforts.

Instead, Israel launched a surprise pre-dawn offensive on Friday involving around 200 warplanes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, missile production centers, and killing both senior military officers and nuclear scientists. Israel has long said its objective is to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon—though Iran maintains its nuclear program is for civilian purposes.

According to the security source, the Israeli military and Mossad had gathered intelligence for years to prepare for the operation. Among those reportedly killed was a commander of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps.

The Mossad team had pre-positioned weapons across Iran, including explosive drones used to hit a surface-to-surface missile base near Tehran. As the air strikes began, Mossad operatives launched precision-guided weapons at Iranian air defense systems to clear the way for Israeli jets.

Footage released by Mossad showed two camouflaged figures—claimed to be part of the operation—deploying a precision weapon system in a desert setting, aimed at disabling Iranian air defenses.

Sima Shine, a former Mossad intelligence head and now an analyst at Israel's Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), said some components of the complex operation would have taken years to prepare.

A second Israeli defense source said the decision to proceed with the attack was finalized on Monday, the same day Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump. Key Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Israel Katz and military chief Eyal Zamir, agreed to initiate the operation on Friday.

The final authorization came from Israel's security cabinet, which met Thursday night.

To preserve the element of surprise, Israeli officials orchestrated a strategic deception campaign. A fourth source disclosed that misleading press briefings were used to suggest that Israel’s focus remained on diplomacy. These included reports of a potential U.S.-Israel rift and announcements highlighting other regional concerns such as Gaza, Yemen, and Lebanon, deliberately omitting Iran.

One press briefing falsely indicated that Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and Mossad Chief David Barnea were en route to Washington. In reality, Dermer was seen alongside Netanyahu at Israel's underground military headquarters in Tel Aviv as the strike commenced.

A fifth military source confirmed that the surprise element was key to the operation’s success but cautioned that tensions remain high and that “difficult days” could still lie ahead.

Following the attack, Iran vowed “harsh punishment,” and launched over 100 drones toward Israeli territory. Israel said it intercepted the majority of these drones.
