Simone Inzaghi named head coach of Al-Hilal

Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal announced on Wednesday the appointment of Simone Inzaghi as their new head coach.

The 49-year-old Italian takes the helm just one day after parting ways with Inter Milan, following a crushing 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final that capped a disappointing, trophyless season.

Al-Hilal confirmed that Inzaghi signed a two-year deal, with the contract finalized in Paris. According to Italian media, the deal could be worth as much as €30 million ($34.25 million) annually.

During his tenure at Inter, Inzaghi secured six major titles, including one Serie A championship, two Coppa Italia trophies, and three Italian Super Cups.

He now joins a club with a decorated history—Al-Hilal hold a record 19 Saudi league titles and have been crowned champions of Asia four times.

In a social media post, the club hailed Inzaghi as “The Italian Genius.”

His first assignment will be leading Al-Hilal at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, where they are set to face Real Madrid on June 18.
