Power outage at the TRNC parliament as session interrupted
During a recent session of the TRNC Parliament’s General Assembly, a power outage once again interrupted proceedings.
The incident occurred while Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz was addressing the assembly regarding the “abolition of deportation decisions.” Although the chamber was plunged into darkness, the microphones remained operational, allowing the speech to continue audibly.
This latest disruption echoes a similar event in May, when CTP Member of Parliament Devrim Barçın revealed allegations that Fatoş Ünal Juju’s brother—head of the UBP Girne Women’s Branch—had been employed by the Prime Ministry, receiving a salary without attending work.
During that disclosure, the parliamentary broadcast (Meclis TV) was first interrupted, followed shortly by a power outage within the Parliament building.
The repeated electrical failures during critical moments have raised concerns about the operational reliability of the Parliament’s infrastructure.
